There are proposals in the Senate Finance Committee bill that appear to require that all people have medical insurance (how did the Finance Committee get so much power and influence?). It seems that people would have to buy insurance from private for-profit companies with no controls on premiums, eligibility determined by insurance companies, and no alternative (public option) choice. If this is correct, this is still another concession/gift to insurance companies.
So far, none of the bills in the Senate or the House have passed. All bills are lengthy, complex and confusing. How about to start through and clarify this mess, members of the Senate and the House list the contributions they get from the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies and their lobbyists.
