Richard Herman and Joe White, chancellor and president of U of I, were involved in a scam where students all around the country were getting free tickets in to the University of Illinois of Champaign-Urbana. These students had political leaders write them a letter to the university, and of course they're going to get in because the university wants the money from those leaders. Some of these students had low grade point averages and ACTs.
Some students that actually worked hard never got in. These students were in Advanced Placement classes and got near a perfect score on their ACTs. Herman and White shouldn't get paid their normal wages and should get paid the faculty wages. The extra money shouldn't go to them since they're not leaders of the university anymore.
I'm not saying it's bad to have those political leaders help the students out; the admissions directors should at least check all the requirements. It can be a good opportunity for political leaders to help out the university, and it can be good for those leaders to gain more votes in the next election.
