A Volkswagen Beetle caught fire and burned up about 2 p.m. Monday on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway just past Arlington Heights Road.
Traffic was still slow through the area for more than an hour.
Arlington Heights firefighters said no one was hurt, and the fire's cause remains under investigation.
