Classical music, wine and fine chocolates - a sensory trinity for all and in no short supply for the annual Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra Fundraiser on Friday, Nov. 13.

"Grape Expectations," an EYSO wine and chocolate tasting fundraiser, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at Fox Valley University and Business Center (formally known as Elgin Community College's Business Conference Center) at 1700 Spartan Drive.

Tickets to enter the fundraiser and participate in the wine tasting will be sold at the door for $55.

For the entry fee people will get the opportunity to sample more than 20 different wines, provided by Wine Styles of Lake in the Hills.

Graham's Fine Chocolates of Geneva is also getting into the mix, creating custom chocolates that will be paired with specific wines to create tastes that will please every palate.

Appetizers will be served throughout the evening as several EYSO student ensembles provide the perfect musical accompaniment to a tastefully elegant evening.

A silent auction, featuring prizes like a two or four-hour pipe organ lesson "encounter" and a private champagne yacht cruise on Chicago's lakefront, will also be held.

All of the money raised will provide much needed tuition assistance for students in the EYSO.

"The money we get raises helps out our program. The tuition that the kids pay to be in the EYSO covers only one third the cost for student to be in program," EYSO Executive Director Kathy Matthews said.

"Because of the economy we had more students than ever request financial aid from us and we never turn away student because they can't pay."

The EYSO was founded in 1976 with the mission of creating and fostering a community of young musicians. The program currently has about 276 students enrolled in its five orchestras.
