Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St., Batavia will feature jazz musician Nik Scott on his return from his U.S. military service. Now a professional marine in Washington, D.C., Scott also is the embodiment of a professional musician. For the lack of self-expression permitted at his post by day, he pours it twofold into his music.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 and is open to all ages. Enjoy Scott's performance of original works in the "Chicago Blues" style and some of the classics. In addition to the musical entertainment, enjoy touring the newly opened gallery space at Water Street Studios.

Art class: Water Street Studios will offer "Geometric Creations in Art, Architecture and Origami" presented by Lane Allen from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Admission is free for current members and only $5 for other members and general public. First in the Water Street Studios lecture series, Lane will explore the link between origami and other forms of art and architecture. From cubist paintings to the architecture of Frank Gehry, this lecture will explore both traditional origami and Lane's "Origane" metal folding in contrast to many interesting aspects of art and architecture around the world. Lane will start the evening with a demonstration of his Origane work. To become a member of Water Street Studios, individual, artist and family memberships are available as well as multiple levels of sponsorship. Some benefits include, yet are not limited to, discounted event admission, e-newsletters, advanced class registration, as well as personal recognition.
