Lake County Sheriff officials will hold a press conference this morning to announce eight people have been arrested for approximately 21 armed robberies in northern Lake County and southern Wisconsin, officials said.

The press conference will take place at 10:30 a.m. where the offenders will be identified. Charges are still pending for those arrested.

Lake County Sherrif Mark Curran will be joined by officials from Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Antioch, Richmond and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff will also be joined by police in Burlington, Lake Geneva, Williams Bay, Devlin, Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin Police Departments, as well as from Walworth, Kenosha and Racine County Sheriff's Office's.

Police in those towns have been working together to try and nab a group dubbed "the handkerchief bandits," who have been wandering into stores in those towns wearing dark, hooded sweatshirts and handkerchiefs over their faces and demanding money.

Fox Lake has been hit twice by the bandits, while stores in Antioch, Lake Villa and Richmond have been hit once.
