Store welcomes reality star

Reality TV star-turned author Lauren Conrad will appear at Anderson's Bookshop in downtown Naperville at 2 p.m. June 20 to celebrate her book, "L.A. Candy." Conrad is the star of MTV's "The Hills" and was featured on "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County." She has been featured on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Rolling Stone, Seventeen and Entertainment Weekly. Tickets to her book-signing are required and available with the purchase of "L.A. New bank coming to Roselle

After more than 60 years in one location, Itasca Bank & Trust Co. will break ground Wednesday on its first branch in Roselle at the corner of Irving Park and Roselle roads. The groundbreaking celebration will be at 10:30 a.m. and be attended by Itasca Bank President Jack Mensching and Roselle Mayor Gale Smolinski. The branch is scheduled to open in spring 2010. Bridge repairs planned

Repairs are scheduled to begin next week on Naperville's Columbia Street bridge, which crosses the Burlington Northern Sate Fe Railway between 5th Avenue/Plank Road and North Avenue, officials said Monday. The bridge will be closed for the first three weeks of the project, which begins June 8, and the work is slated for completion in early July. Crews are expected to replace the bridge joints and resurface the asphalt roadway. Traffic will be detoured from Columbia Street to North Avenue to Loomis Street and to 5th Avenue/Plank Road. Columbia Street north of North Avenue will be open to local traffic only.

Wheaton band opens season

The Wheaton Municipal Band opens its summer concert season with a performance at 8 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park at Wheaton and Karlskoga avenues. The concert will celebrate the band's 60th anniversary and feature Alfred Reed's "Curtain Up!" written for the occasion. The evening also will include classic works by Gustav Holst, Leroy Anderson and John Philip Sousa. For details, visit www.wheatonmunicipalband.org.
