Lake Zurich 4, Deerfield 0: At Dugdale Park in Waukegan, Megan Mattera fired a 3-hitter, as the Bears won the Class 4A regional title.
Amanda Orchard was 2-for-2 with an RBI and sacrifice and Erin Sweeney went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Lake Zurich (28-7), which advances to Thursday's Barrington sectional semifinals against the host school.
Ella Aslan had a single and 2 RBI, as the Bears pounded out 11 hits. Mattera (19-5) struck out eight and didn't walk a batter.
Vernon Hills 4, Wauconda 0: At Wauconda, the Cougars avenged a pair of regular-season losses to capture a Class 3A regional championship.
Megan Meline fired a 4-hitter with 9 strikeouts. She walked a pair.
Charlotte Hoffman was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for Vernon Hills (19-8), which faces Marengo on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Marengo sectional semifinals.
Wauconda finished 23-10.
