There was no clean getaway for a man charged with using a squeegee to rob a McDonald's in Elk Grove Village.
Edward Hudson, 21, of 730 W. Bode Circle, Hoffman Estates, was charged with attempted aggravated robbery after he covered a squeegee with a towel to make the handle appear to be a gun barrel, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Matthew Medina.
Pulling up to the drive-through window of a McDonald's restaurant at 10 Biesterfield Road on Thursday afternoon, Hudson showed what appeared to be a long-barrel rifle and said, "Give me the money or I'll shoot you," Medina said.
Restaurant employees gave him no money and called the police, and Hudson was arrested later by Hoffman Estates police.
Having already served prison terms on theft and burglary charges, Hudson was being held on $75,000 bond. His next court date is March 6 in Rolling Meadows.
