Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision in unincorporated Kane County near Gilberts Wednesday evening, sending both drivers and a young child in a car seat to the hospital.
The collision between a male driver and a female driver occurred at 6:03 p.m. on Route 72 east of Big Timber Road.
All three victims were taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, according to Pingree-Grove officials.
Though the male driver was the most badly hurt, his injuries likely were not life-threatening, fire officials said.
Though the collision occurred within the jurisdiction of the Rutland-Dundee Fire Protection District, paramedics from the Pingree-Grove Fire Department were first on the scene and handled the transportation of the injured.
The collision occurred within the jurisdiction of the Kane County sheriff's police, according to Gilberts police. No further information was available from Kane County Wednesday evening.
Gilberts police did assist Kane County sheriff's police with traffic control for about 45 minutes after the crash.
Officials from both the Pingree-Grove Fire Department and Gilberts Police Department said the weather appeared to have played a role in the crash.
