Palatine's Kawai nets third-place finish

Day three of the IHSA state tournament in Buffalo Grove commenced after a three-hour rain delay. Eight hours and an additional venue later, Hinsdale Central registered its third team title in five years by collecting 50 points ahead of Stevenson (30) and New Trier (27). The cards were dealt, and the face cards were wild with Red Devils as Hinsdale Central duo Sandra Keta and Stephanie Dolehide achieved a doubles state title while singles player Isabella Lorenzini grabbed her first singles title after faltering in the championship in the prior two editions of the tournament. Stevenson's duet of senior Vinaya Rao and junior Katherine Harvey, they were trying to repeat as state champs while Palatine sophomore Asuka Kawai notched a personal best for the year advancing to the final four in the singles bracket and taking third place.
