Eaton lands on injured list with strained right hamstring

On the final day of May, Adam Eaton was asked about his health.

"Good enough," the White Sox's right fielder said. "I think a lot are guys are good enough right now. Not playing at 100% but we're 70, 80%."

Dropping below that threshold in June, Eaton landed on the 10-day injury list Thursday with a strained right hamstring.

Relief pitcher Zack Burdi was recalled from Class AAA Charlotte to take his roster spot.

"This gives us a shot here before we get deeper into the season, just get him well," manager Tony La Russa said of Eaton. "He's dealt with it, he's gone out there like a good competitor and it takes away from his game. The decision was made, just get him well."

Eaton has 5 home runs and 27 RBI over 54 games in his first season back with the Sox, but he's hitting just .195/.296/.345 and has struck out 51 times in 203 plate appearances.
