Softball: Lynch's RBI lifts Libertyville past Warren

Charlotte Lynch drove in the game-winning run, as Libertyville defeated visiting Warren 5-4 in a North Suburban Conference softball showdown Saturday.

Aliya Haddon was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Wildcats (17-7, 9-1), who beat Warren by one run for the second time this season. Sarah Bennett was 1-for-4 with 2 RBI. Winning pitcher Amanda Page threw all 7 innings, striking out seven and allowing 8 hits and 2 walks.

Caitlyn Britton (3 RBI) and Erika Jimenez homered for Warren (15-3, 6-2), and Ashlyn Kitter doubled.

Carmel sweeps Nazareth: Jordan Swiatkowski's 2-run homer in the top of the eighth inning gave the Corsairs a 7-6 win and sweep of their East Suburban Catholic Conference doubleheader.

It was Swiatkowski's 11th home run of the season, giving Marla Walinski the win and keeping Carmel (16-7, 7-0) undefeated in the ESCC.

Sydney Schuda pitched the Corsairs to a 3-1 win in Game 1.

Antioch sweeps Woodstock: Rilee Schreiner fired a 1-hitter with 6 strikeouts and got helped by a triple play, as the Sequoits won 8-0 to complete a sweep of their nonconference doubleheader.

Schreiner faced only 22 batters, 1 over the minimum, and had a perfect game through five innings. She triggered 1-2-5-3 triple play in the sixth inning. Ashlyn Sundell and Abby Pyburn (3 RBI) both went 3-for-4 for Antioch (21-2-1).

Jeri Bonaguidi pitched a 5-inning 2-hitter with 7 strikeouts and no walks in Game 1, as the Sequoits won 11-0. Gabby Debevec, Megan Lawrence (double, RBI) and Faith Miller (triple, 4 RBI) all went 2-for-3, and Avery Malicki had a double.

Lake Zurich 18, Lake Forest 0: Maura Ginn was 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI, Nina Kolb went 3-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, and the Bears won the North Suburban Conference game in four innings.

Lake Zurich (12-9, 6-3) also got a pair of hits each from Olivia Collins (4 RBI), CeCe Cunnion, Elizabeth Chialdikas and Haley Gajewski (2 RBI). Stephanie Keefe allowed 2 hits and struck out five in her 4 innings in the circle.
