Cross country: Benet takes second in regional
At the Class 2A Burlington Central cross country regional, Benet placed second in the boys race with 48 points, just 4 behind Kaneland.
St. Francis placed fourth with 137 points and Montini fifth with 144 to advance to next week's sectional.
Connor O'Keefe and Ben Grundman led the Redwings, placing sixth and seventh, respectively, with Jack Robinson ninth.
Dan Weizeorick placed 10th for St. Francis. Jayden Gertsen was Montini's best finisher, taking fifth.
Class 1A Lisle regional:
Timothy Christian placed third with 63 points and IC Catholic took sixth with 188 points as both teams advanced to next week's sectional.
Clint Fincher took fifth and Caleb Mitchell sixth to lead the Trojans. Zach Jordan's 26th-place finish led the Knights.
Girls cross country
Class 2A Burlington Central regional:
St. Francis placed third with 82 points, Wheaton Academy was fourth at 100 points and took the sixth and final team qualifying spot with 138. Raiders freshman Kyle DiNardo placed fifth individually in 19:35.
Class 1A Lisle regional:
IC Catholic won with 18 points and Timothy Christian took second with 44 to advance to the sectional. Knights freshman Kennedy Calcagno won the race in 19:36.
