Girls golf: Barrington takes third place
Barrington's girls golf team started its season on Thursday with a third-place finish in its own invite at the Bonnie-Dundee Golf Course in Carpentersville.
Coach Jodi Schoeck's Fillies scored a 308 to finish behind Naperville North (307) and Highland Park (307).
Naperville North was awarded the title through the fifth-score tiebreaker (82-86).
Buffalo Grove placed 11th in the 13-team field with a score of 370.
Lincoln Way Central's Grace Curran earned the medalist honors with a tourney-record 64.
Wheeling's Adrienne Rohwedder took second (69) while her sister Symantha Rohwedder of Wheeling (74) and Sophia Denison of Barrington (74) tied for tenth.
Early Bird: St. Charles North shot a 162 to win the Conant Early Bird Invite which was held at the Buffalo Grove Golf Course.
Prospect's A' team (178) was second followed by Conant 'A' (188) and Prospect 'B' team (191).
Elk Grove (198) placed seventh followed by Fremd (202), Conant 'B' (216), Schaumburg (219), Palatine (223), Hersey (226) and Hoffman Estates (246)
St. Charles North's Sarah Arnold earned medalist honors with a 34.
Michelle Zhang of Conant tied for second with a 42 while Prospect's Amanda Stein (43) was seventh.
The Knights' Emily Fleming and Kelly Kavanagh and Conant's Alyssa Brand rounded out the top ten (all shot 44s).
