Baseball: Naperville Central, York, Wheaton North win

Naperville Central 6, Plainfield South 0:

The Redhawks (17-15) upset the fourth seed in the Class 4A Hinsdale South sectional, advancing to the Naperville Central regional final behind a 5-hitter by Jared Suchevits. Sam Hojnar and Braden Lindmark had 2 hits while Suchevits drove in 2 runs.

York 2, Streamwood 0:

Charlie Pakenas pitched a 2-hitter with 6 strikeouts and a walk for the Dukes (21-11), who scored a run in the second inning and the fifth inning to advance to the Class 4A Elk Grove regional final. Ryan Ross went 3-for-3 with an RBI.

Wheaton North 7, Conant 1:

Tyler Woltman, Connor Olson, Joe Klein, Rocco Gambaiani and Jay Gail all had 2 hits as the Falcons (23-11) advanced to the Class 4A Willowbrook regional final. Jackson Gray went the distance on the mound while scattering 5 hits. Ryan Russman drove in 2 runs.

Neuqua Valley 16, Downers North 0:

Ricky Castro didn't allow a hit in the four-inning victory for the Wildcats (29-3) in the Class 4A Yorkville regional semifinals. Ethan Schreier went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and 6 RBI. Evan Ranneklev also homered. Nick Taylor and Jack Rigoni had 3 hits.

Montini 23, Noble 0:

The Broncos (19-13) followed an 8-run first inning with a 15-run second inning. Michael Sclafani and Antoine Harris each had 2 hits and combined for 8 RBI. Seth Quick and Liam Heggemann combined on the mound.

Plainfield North 5, Waubonsie Valley 3:

The score was tied 3-3 until Plainfield North scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cole Gregorio went 3-for-3 with an RBI in the Class 4A Plainfield North regional semifinals.

St. Charles North 17, Glenbard North 1:

Anthony Ferreri had 2 hits for the Panthers (9-25), who were eliminated in the Class 4A Hoffman Estates regional semifinals.

Kaneland 10, Wheaton Academy 0:

The Warriors (15-16) fell in the Class 3A Kaneland regional semifinals.

Plainfield East 4, Hinsdale Central 3:

Plainfield East scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to win in the Class 4A Hinsdale Central regional semifinals. Peter Mercurio homered for the Red Devils (16-14).
