Girls soccer: Crystal Lake South beats Sycamore in OT

Thanks to sophomore Lilli Sisler's late heroics Tuesday, the Crystal Lake South girls soccer team advanced to the Class 2A Rochelle sectional final with a 3-2 overtime win over Sycamore.

The top seeded Spartans (20-3), who started the year 15-0, jumped out in front by scores of 1-0 in the first half and 2-1 in the second half.

But the Gators (13-6) simply never quit. Sisler, who scored 2 clutch goals in the final 60 minutes, tied the game on a pass from Taylor Bittenbender with under 7 minutes to play and then came up big again in the second overtime, cashing in on a second chance with less than 9 minutes on the clock which held up as the game-winner.

Also scoring for the Gators was Cam Sengstock, whose goal came in the first half while Bittenbender finished with 2 assists. Goalkeeper Marissa Fetters provided 15 saves for South, which is back in the sectional final for the first time since 2016.

The Gators look to win their first sectional in program history Friday at 4 p.m. against the winner of Wednesday's matchup between Prairie Ridge and Burlington Central.
