Girls soccer: Conant, Barrington make sectional finals

Conant 1, WW South 0 (shootout): The sixth-seeded Cougars won penalty kicks 4-2 to earn a spot in the Geneva sectional final at noon Saturday against No. 1 seed St. Charles North.

In the shootout, Conant's Miranda Glennon, Neida Ocampo and Stephanie Mazurek converted their kicks to set the stage for Delaney Hoye's game-winner.

WW South was the No. 2 seed in the Geneva sectional. Conant had alread topped No. 3 seed Batavia to advance to the sectional semifinals.

St. Charles North advanced by topping St. Charles East 1-0.

Barrington 6, DeKalb 1: The Fillies rolled into Friday's 7 p.m. sectional championship game at Rockford Guilford by handling the Barbs.

The opponent for the top-seeded MSL champions will be Cary-Grove, the No. 3 seed and a 4-0 winner against Jacobs in the second semifinal Tuesday at Guilford.
