Softball: Huntley, Batavia pick up 2 wins each

The softball teams from Huntley and Batavia each won twice in nonconference play Saturday.

Huntley 6, Joliet West 5: Autumn Kasal's single in the top of the 11th inning proved to be the game-winning hit for the Red Raiders. Bri Bower was the winning pitcher, throwing seven innings in relief of Tiffany Giese and now allowing a hit while striking out 14 and walking one. Goese had 3 hits with a double, Mallory Reicher added 3 hits and Kendra Mitchell had 3 hits with a double In addition to the game-winner, Kasal had a grand slam home run.

Huntley 5, Lemont 1: Tiffany Giese led the way for Huntley (29-5) in this win with 3 hits. She also pitched 4 innings and allowed 3 hits with 2 strikeouts and no walks before giving way to Bri Bower who allowed 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks in her 3 innings. Autumn Kasal had 2 hits and an RBI, Paige Berkmeyer a home run and Sofia Tenuta a double and 3 RBI.

Batavia sweeps Glenbard South: Cassidy Carby had 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI and Molly Costigan added 4 hits with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead Batavia to a win in Game 1 of a nonconference doubleheader. Allison Bahlmann added a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs while Sammi Wicks had 2 RBI and Peyton Sachse 2 hits and an RBI. Noelle Chaney allowed 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks for the win. In Game 2, Batavia scored in the top of the seventh inning to win 3-2. Cassidy Carby (2 hits), Noelle Chaney (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and Kaitlin Lemmer (2 hits, RBI) led the offense. Betsy Thayer was the winning pitcher in relief.

St. Charles East 4, Sandburg 2: Katie Arrambide allowed 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk for the Saints (23-6) in a nonconference win. Alex Wooten (3 hits), Lauren Luna (2B, 2 RBI) and Maddy Stout (2 hits, 2B) led the offense.

Geneva 5, Montini 4: At Bandits Stadium Ali Dierks pitched a 5-hitter to help the Vikings (21-7) win in nonconference action. Katie Geary and Emily Viebrock had doubles for Geneva.
