Boys tennis: Stevenson sends all four to state

Stevenson sectional: The host Patriots dominated, advancing all four of their entries to the Class 2A state meet and scoring 27 points to easily outdistance runner-up Lake Forest (17 points).

Stevenson senior Sam Komis captured the singles championship with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win over his junior teammate Zachary Kim. Lake Forest junior Will Zordani took third, besting his freshman teammate Vishvam Bhagat.

In doubles, Stevenson freshmen Prathinav Merneedi/Eric Perkowski outlasted Lake Forest's Yusef Alsikafi/Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 for the championship. Stevenson's junior duo of Aswath Viswanathan/Arjun Sheelvanth captured third place, defeating fellow state qualifiers Kenny Herrmann/Nathan Valley of Libertyville 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-4.

Lakes sectional: Both Lakes and Grayslake North advanced a pair of entries to the Class 1A state meet, with Lakes (23 points) edging the Knights (22) for the sectional championship.

Antioch senior Kyle Boudreau won the single title by beating Grayslake North senior Matthew Pawlowski. Lakes junior Andrew Butler took third, defeating Johnsburg junior Brian Anderson.

Marian Central's Ian Brzeski/Mike Dowling won the doubles championship by besting Lakes' senior duo of Adam Hagman/Matthew Mercure. Third place went to Grayslake Central seniors Jordan Ramsey/Greg Madjarov, who beat Grayslake North seniors Alex Cisneroz/Brian Szramek.
