Baseball: Fields no-hits Highland Park as Libertyville rolls

Colin Fields fired a 5-inning no-hitter, and Libertyville's baseball team shut out host Highland Park 10-0 in a nonconference game on Friday.

The Valparaiso-bound Fields struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Tommy Rigali (double, 2 RBI), Andrew Kim and Nick Angel each had 2 hits for Libertyville (25-8), and Tanner Kelly contributed a double.

Carmel 3, Nazareth 1: Dylan Paquette pitched a complete game, scattering 4 hits, striking out five and walking four, as the host Corsairs won their East Suburban Catholic Conference finale.

Carmel (17-10, 11-7) scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth. Charley Dir was 2-for-3 and scored a run, and Ben Wiegman was 1-for-3 with 1 run scored.

Grayslake Central wins twice: The Rams snapped a 2-game losing streak with a pair of nonconference victories, beating Woodstock 6-1 and Von Steuben 9-1 to improve to 25-6.

Against Woodstock, Jack Fortmann (4 innings) and Ethan Peterson (3 innings) combined for 7 strikeouts with Fortmann picking up the win. Nic Presutti had 3 hits, including a triple, while Benton Troehler and Coby Moe both had doubles.

Against Von Steuben, sophomore Aaron Lieberman tossed 4 innings of shutout baseball in earning his first career varsity win. Max Snowden had 3 hits, including a double, and Eric Sturm added a pair of singles.

Wauconda 18, Round Lake 5: Anthony Bonk was 4-for-4 with 2 RBI, Brock Glavey went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI, and the Bulldogs won the Northern Lake County Conference finale in five innings.

Wauconda (10-15-2, 8-10) got 2-for-4 efforts from Camden Janik (2 doubles, 4 RBI) and Jacob Gick (double, 2 RBI). Drew Coe had a double.
