Softball: Huntley wins FVC outright

Huntley put the finishing touch on the outright Fox Valley Conference softball championship Wednesday with a 15-2 win over Jacobs, the Red Raiders' third straight FVC title.

Winning pitcher Tiffany Giese (18-2) led the offense for the Raiders (25-4, 13-1) with 4 hits including 2 doubles and 2 RBI. In the circle she allowed 4 hits with 3 strikeouts and no walks in 4 innings.

Also producing offensively for Huntley were Sofia Tenuta (2 hits, HR, 3 RBI), Grace Kutz (3 hits, HR, 2B), Teagen O'Rilley (3 hits, 2 doubles, RBI), Quinn Walsh (2 hits), Kendra Mitchell (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Marley Reicher (2 hits, RBI).

Delaney Garden had 3 hits for Jacobs (13-12-1).

CL South 14, Cary-Grove 4: Emily Sulikowski had 3 hits including 2 home runs and 3 RBI while Christina Toniolo added 2 homers, a double and 4 RBI to lead Crystal Lake South (18-6) to a FVC win. Also producing for the Gators were Carly Chovanec (3 hits, 2B, RBI), Maddie Bush (2 hits, 2 RBI), Skylar Olsen (2 hits, RBI) and Lauren Schoen (3 hits, 2 RBI), who was also the complete game winning pitcher, allowing 6 hits. Alina Krembuszewski had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for Cary-Grove (14-10-1) and Emma Hill drove in 2 runs.

Batavia 4, Geneva 2: Sammi Wicks allowed 4 hits with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks as Batavia prevailed in this Upstate Eight River game. Jaelen Lisberg had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs while Noelle Chaney added a double and an RBI and Cassidy Carby had a double. Sam Keller had a triple and an RBI for Geneva (19-7, 12-5) and Isabella Walton added 2 hits and an RBI.

St. Charles North 21, Larkin 1: Jess Wilson had 4 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead the North Stars (14-9) to a UEC River win. Also contributing for SCN were Jillian Waslawski (2 hits, 3B, 3 RBI), Ashlyn Jozefowicz (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI), Grace Quinn (2 hits, RBI), Laine VandeHei (2 hits), Lindsay Sawicki (3 hits, RBI), Alyssa Domaracki (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Grace Sobieski (2 RBI). Sawicki was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and 3 walks.

St. Charles East 16, Streamwood 4: Hannah Cozzi (3 RBI) and Maddy Stout (2 RBI) each had a double and a home run for the Saints (21-6) in their UEC River win. Brooke Byas (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Sara Campagna (3 hits, 3 RBI), Alex Wooten (3 hits, 3B, 4 RBI) and Krista Sbarra (2 hits, 2B) also contributed for SCE. Madelyn Rouse was the winning pitcher. Laura Dietrich had a home run and Tessa Freedman added 2 hits for Streamwood (7-12).

Burlington Central 10, Harvard 0: Alisyn Catenacci allowed 2 hits and had 6 strikeouts as BC (16-5) won in the Kishwaukee River Conference. She also had 2 RBI. Julia Barnes had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Rockets while Danielle Yurgil (3 hits, RBI), Lindsay Jamrozek (3 hits, RBI), Sarah Schmitt (3B, 3 RBI) and Sarah Kinney (2 hits, 2B) also contributed.

ACC 4, Nazareth 1: Isabel Gonzalez had 3 hits with a double, triple and an RBI to lead the Chargers (15-14) to a nonconference win. Also contributing for Aurora Central were Alheli Velazquez (2 hits), Izzy Hernandez (2 hits) and Rachel Haley (2 hits, RBI). Dani Brown picked up the win in the circle, going 4 innings and allowing 1 hit with 6 strikeouts and a walk.
