Baseball: Burlington Central's Hresil tosses no-hitter

Kyle Hresil threw a no-hitter Wednesday as the Burlington Central baseball team defeated Harvard 12-0 in five innings in a Kishwaukee River Conference game.

Hresil struck out 4 and walked 2 as the Rockets moved to 20-9 on the season.

Paddy McKermitt (2 hits), Zach Schutta (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Colton Wallace (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Ryan Knowlton (2 hits, 2 doubles, 3 RBI), Caden Scott (2 hits, RBI) and Nick Matijevic (2B, 3 RBI) led the BC offense.

Huntley 9, Prairie Ridge 1: Kyle Morgan allowed 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk over 6 inning as Huntley (25-5, 17-4) won this Fox Valley Conference game. Leading the offense for the Red Raiders were Kamrin Hoffmann (2 hits, RBI), Matt Rodriguez (2B, RBI), Hunter Rumachik (2B, 2 RBI), AJ Henkle (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Zach Model (2 hits, RBI) and Joey Petryniec (2 hits, 3 RBI).

Cary-Grove 3, CL South 1: Alex Riehman allowed 6 hits and had 5 strikeouts with no walks as Cary-Grove (17-10-1) won this FVC game. Quinn Priester (2 hits, 2B), Ryan Ignoffo (2B), Kyle Ives (2 RBI) and Matt Breig (2B, RBI) led the Trojans' offense. Losing pitcher Blake Kuffel had a double for Crystal Lake South (11-15-1).

McHenry 8, Hampshire 0: Carlos Peunte had 2 hits for Hampshire (13-19) in a FVC loss.

West Aurora 11, East Aurora 0: Alberto Martinez tossed a 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts and 1 walk in West Aurora's Upstate Eight Valley win. Leading the offense for the Blackhawks (21-7) were JJ Rivera (2 hits, 2B), Dustin Tomas (2 hits, RBI), Paulo Maravillo (2 hits, 2 RBI), Anthony Malczyk (3 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Adrian Ruiz (2B, 3B, 3 RBI).

Harvest Christian 15, Christian Liberty 2: In the Class 1A Harvest regional, Brock Wilken had a double, home run and 3 RBI while Dayne Frederick added a double, 2 triples and 2 RBI) to lead the Lions (22-7) into Saturday's championship game at Judson University. Also contributing for Harvest weree Joey Pepper (2 doubles, 2 RBI), Drew Lewis (2 doubles, RBI), Jack Nohava (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Reilly Gebhards (2B) and Grant Young (2B). Wilken went 3 innings for the win, allowing no hits with 6 strikeouts and a walk.

Marmion 10, Plano 0: Brandon McPherson had 3 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead Marmion (13-17) to a nonconference win. Jake Carlson (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Jackson Best (2 RBI) and Jack Liesen (2B, RBI) also contributed for the Cadets. Ryan Fletcher and Adam Auchstetter combined on a 3-hitter with Fletcher earning the win.
