Softball: Batavia nips St. Charles North

Cassidy Carby had 3 hits with a double, home run and 3 RBI Tuesday as Batavia knocked off St. Charles North 6-5 in Upstate Eight River softball action.

Kaylan Waldron added 2 hits for the Bulldogs. Noelle Chaney was the winning pitcher.

Alyssa Eby had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for SCN (13-9). Grace Quinn added a double.

West Chicago 7, South Elgin 6: McKenna Eicholz had a home run and 3 RBI for South Elgin (14-11) in an Upstate Eight Valley loss. Geneva Pollman (2 hits), Julianna Battaglia (2 hits, RBI) and Kaylie Humes (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) also contributed for the Storm.

Streamwood 16, Elgin 1: Laura Dietrich (3 hits, 2B) and Becky Roncone (2 hits) each had home runs and 4 RBI to lead the Sabres (7-11) to an Upstate Eight River win. Tessa Freedman added 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI for Streamwood, Taylyr Crocilla had 2 hits with an RBI, Corinne Angle 2 hits and an RBI and Leandra Gottschalk added 2 hits. Crocilla threw a 1-hitter with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Hampshire 5, CL Central 0: Jasmine Lopez allowed 4 hits and had 6 strikeouts and 5 walks for Hampshire (14-10) in its Fox Valley Conference win. Delaney Rummell had 3 hits with a double for the Whip-Purs and Morgan Haefling added 2 hits.

Glenbard South 5, St. Edward 2: Jessy Kramp had a 2-run home run while Hannah Dorley (2 hits, 2B), Ashley Miller (2B) and Ella O'Neill (2B) led St. Edward (10-16) in a Metro Suburban loss.

Kaneland 8, Rock Falls 2: In nonconference action, McKenna Ryan allowed 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk for Kaneland. Donatela Sommesi had 3 hits for the Knights.
