Baseball: Pavey, West Aurora blank East Aurora
Jacob Pavey allowed just 1 hit in 5 innings Tuesday as West Aurora downed East Aurora 10-0 in Upstate Eight Valley baseball action.
JJ Rivera had 3 hits with 2 doubles and 3 RBI to lead the offense for the Blackhawks (20-7) while Reid Medlin added 2 RBI, Paulo Maravillo had 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI and Danny Marion drove in 2 runs.
Huntley 14, Dundee-Crown 4: Hunter Rumachik scattered 7 hits and had 4 strikeouts and no walks as Huntley (24-5, 16-4) won this Fox Valley Conference game and closed in on the league title. Rumachik added 2 hits and an RBI at the plate while Matt Rodriguez slugged a grand slam home run among his 3 hits in the game. Also adding to the offense for the Red Raiders were Kamrin Hoffmann (2 hits), AJ Henkle (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Zach Model (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Evan Tocmo (2B, 2 RBI) and Chris Constantino (2B). Erik Hedmark had a double and 2 RBI for D-C. Evan Wenc and Nicholas Cuciarone added 2 hits each for the Chargers.
Cary-Grove 9, Jacobs 2: Cary-Grove scored 8 runs in the top of the eighth inning to come away with this FVC win. Leading the offense for the Trojans (16-10-1) were Steve Calamari (2 hits, 2 RBI), Ryan Ignoffo (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Billy Blank (3B, 3 RBI), Shane Layshock (2B) and Quinn Priester (2 hits, RBI). Bryan Belo had 2 hits with a double and Liam Oreskovich added a double and an RBI for Jacobs (16-11-1).
Burlington Central 11, Harvard 1: Ryan Knowlton had 4 hits with 3 doubles and 3 RBI and Paddy McKermitt added 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Rockets (19-9) to a Kishwaukee River win. Nick Matijevic added 3 hits with an RBI for BC and Andrew Griffin had a double. Zak Zuiker, one of three Rocket pitchers, was credited with the win.
Kaneland 13, Marmion 3: Kaneland (17-8) scored all 13 of its runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come away with this nonconference win. Leading the offense for the Knights were Luke Gomes (2 hits, 2 RBI), Angel Acevedo (2 hits, 2 RBI), Robbie Dudzinski (3B, 2 RBI), winning pitcher Nic Panico (2 hits, RBI), Zach Farris (2B, RBI), Mikey Rogers (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Thomas Shaw (2 RBI).
Yorkville 8, Harvest Christian 5: Jack Nohava had 2 doubles and an RBI and Dayne Frederick added a double for Harvest (21-7) in this nonconference loss.
Glenbard South 5, ACC 3: In the Metro Suburban, Jeff Albert had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Eric Valles added 2 hits and an RBI for Aurora Central (17-13).
Streamwood 9, Hoffman Estates 5: Anthony Caruso had a double and an RBI while Chris Randel and Jared Oliver drove in 2 runs each for Streamwood (12-15) in nonconference action.
