Boys track: Vernon Hills third in CSL North meet

Central Suburban League meet: On Friday night, Vernon Hills finished third in the CSL North Division meet.

Despite the cold and windy conditions, the Cougars set several season and personal bests. Tyler Gonzalez won the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 50.40, while Aidan Williamson captured the pole vault with a season best 13-6. It marked Williamson's fourth CSL championship.

Vernon Hills also won two relays, as each ran season-best times. The 800 relay featured James D'Argo, Nathaniel Gunderson, Brandon Kim and Mekhi McCarthy. Evan Peepo, Oskar Jedynak, McCarthy and Gonzalez won the 1,600 relay.

The Cougars' other highlights included second-place efforts from Sohan Barot (high jump), D'Argo (200, personal-best 23.42) and Calvin Wu (long jump). Alex Choi placed third in the discus. The 400 relay of D'Argo, Max Lyle, Kim and Gonzalez placed third with a season-best time, and Peepo ran a personal-best 54.55 in the 400 (sixth).
