Girls water polo: It's an MSL title-game rematch at Schaumburg

In the Schaumburg girls water polo sectional final, it will be a rematch of the Mid-Suburban League championship game.

Top-seeded Conant earned its spot by turning back a strong challenge from Fremd on Friday. The MSL West champs advanced with a 10-7 victory as Olivia Olszewski and Amy Rodriguez had 3 goals apiece.

MSL East champion Hersey, the No. 2 seed, won the other semifinal in an 8-5 decision against No. 3 seed Barrington.

Conant and Hersey played evenly in the MSL title game last week, with Conant prevailing 7-5. They'll battle it out again with a state tournament berth at stake starting at noon Saturday at Schaumburg.

• At Buffalo Grove, top-seeded Stevenson pitched a shutout against Libertyville, winning 16-0.

The Patriots' opponent in the sectional final will be second-seeded Mundelein, a 9-0 winner against No. 3 seed Buffalo Grove in the final matchup of the day at BG.

The championship game between Stevenson and Mundelein is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
