Baseball: Lake Park, Glenbard North, Downers Grove South win

Lake Park 4, Neuqua Valley 3:

Trailing 3-0 after five innings, the Lancers (14-12, 11-9) scored twice in the sixth and twice in the bottom of the seventh to win in the DuPage Valley. The tying and winning runs scored on an error. Complete-game winning pitcher Jay Palmer allowed 4 hits and struck out six. Paul Beverly drove in 2 runs and Eric Brown went 2-for-3. Ryan Wheeler went 3-for-3 for Neuqua Valley (24-2, 18-2), which clinched its second straight outright DVC title thanks to Wheaton North's loss on Thursday.

Glenbard North 4, Metea Valley 3:

The Panthers (8-19, 3-17) broke out to a 4-1 fifth-inning lead in the DuPage Valley. Mike Wellman pitched 6 innings to earn the win and Brandon Gonzales pitched a scoreless seventh for the save. Marc Muller went 3-for-4 while Wellman and Brandon Cole had 2 hits. Jake Kmiecik, Carter Wardell and Danny Zorn had 2 hits for Metea Valley (15-13, 12-11).

Downers South 3, Hinsdale South 1:

The Mustangs (16-8, 11-4) salvaged the third game of the series to forge a tie for first place with Hinsdale South (15-10, 11-4) in the West Suburban Gold. Cameron Crowley pitched a 1-hitter with 7 strikeouts. Anthony Stellato and Brett Riegler each had 2 hits.

Willowbrook 5, Leyden 2:

Dax Meyer improved to 7-0 for the Warriors (16-12, 10-8 West Suburban Gold), striking out seven and allowing 2 hits in 6⅔ innings. Jack Hines doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs.

Glenbard West 10, Downers North 0:

Sam Fenske pitched a 6-inning shutout for the Hilltoppers (13-8, 8-6), striking out five and allowing 6 hits. Jack Campanella went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI. Fenske and Kyle Engstrom also drove in 2 runs.

Naperville North 14, Waubonsie Valley 3:

Mike Bruebach went 3-for-4 with a double, home run and 7 RBI for the Huskies (15-11, 9-10 DuPage Valley) in the five-inning win. Winning pitcher Jack Whitley allowed 3 hits in 4 innings. Ben Jaynes hit a 3-run homer for Waubonsie Valley (5-21, 4-15).

Addison Trail 4, Wheeling 1:

Four players had 2 hits for the Blazers (15-12), including Mike Scali's 2-hit and 2 RBI effort. Winning pitcher A.J. Parnell scattered 6 hits in 6 innings.

Benet 5, WW South 3:

The Redwings (15-12) pulled ahead to stay after scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jack Schneider tripled and drove in 2 runs. Gio Ahern and Connor Hincks combined on the mound.

Glenbard South 10, Guerin 1:

The Raiders (14-12, 11-5 Metro Suburban) scored all their runs in the first three innings. Drew Vozza doubled and drove in 3 runs. Winning pitcher Michael Nathe went 2-for-3.

Lisle 8, Coal City 5:

The Lions (16-11, 10-4) scored 4 runs in the fifth inning and 3 runs in the sixth to rally for the Interstate Eight victory. Starting pitcher Zack Heidenry doubled twice and had 3 RBI. Damien Guerrero drove in 2 runs. Sam Russo pitched 1⅔ scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.

IC Catholic Prep 12, St. Edward 2:

The Knights (11-19, 8-10) scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end the Metro Suburban game. Winning pitcher C.J. West and Ryan Malek had 3 RBI while Jack Enright and Christopher Slowinski each had 3 hits.
