Softball: Wright, Bowen a hit for Vernon Hills at The Ballpark

Rachel Wright had 3 hits and 6 RBI, Delaney Bowen was 4-for-4 and scored 3 runs, and Vernon Hills' softball team beat Stevenson 13-1 in six innings at The Ballpark in Rosemont on Wednesday night.

Wright finished 3-for-4 with a triple and double. Nicole Pieper was 3-for-3 with a double and 3 runs scored for the Cougars. Bowen also had a double, and Brooke Pieper delivered a double and 2 RBI. Quin Yuter went 1-for-1 with 2 walks from the leadoff spot.

Madison Johnson earned the win, allowing 2 hits in 4 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks, as Vernon Hills improved to 11-13.

Maggie Trotter went 2-for-3 for Stevenson (6-14).

Libertyville 10, Lake Zurich 4: Down 4-0 after one inning, the visiting Wildcats pulled even in the top of the second and scored twice in the third en route to the North Suburban win.

Hannah Hiscox was 2-for-4 with a double and 4 RBI for Libertyville (19-6, 8-3). Aliya Haddon (2 RBI) was also 2-for-4, and Sarah Hoyer went 2-for-5 with a triple. Emily Hilldale tripled as well for the Wildcats, and Maggie Evers and Julia Zinkewich contributed doubles.

Winning pitcher Amanda Page allowed 2 earned runs in 6 innings, striking out five and walking one.

Lake Zurich's Elizabeth Chialdikas was 2-for-3 with a double, Abby Jokerst had a double, and Julia Zaucha tripled and knocked in a run.

Antioch 4, Grayslake Central 3: The Sequoits got 2 hits apiece from Megan Lawrence and Abby Pyburn in the Northern Lake County game, which was resumed after being suspended in the top of the fourth on May 3.

Deighton Butenschoen doubled for the lone extra-base hit for Antioch (16-6, 8-2).

Morgan Smigielski (2-for-4) and Lexi Waigand (2 RBI) both homered for Grayslake Central (14-11, 7-6). Brooke Heraty was 2-for-3.

Carmel 7, Marian Central 1: Hailie Swiatkowski hit a 2-run homer, and the Corsairs celebrated senior day by winning the East Suburban Catholic game.

Jessica Dettwiler had a 2-run double for Carmel.
