Baseball: Metea Valley, Hinsdale South, Neuqua Valley win

Metea Valley 5, Naperville North 4:

After scoring the tying run in the bottom of the sixth, the Mustangs (14-12, 13-10 DuPage Valley) won it in the seventh when Andrew Cronin scored on an error. Jack Cagigal went the distance while striking out 10. Jason Kirchner homered and drove in 2 runs.

Hinsdale South 1, Downers South 0:

John Colucci pitched a 2-hitter with 5 strikeouts and no walks as the Hornets (15-9, 11-3) seized a one-game lead atop the West Suburban Gold standings. Hinsdale South scored the lone run in the third inning when Frankie Klemm scored on a wild pitch. Andrew Alfini struck out seven in 6 innings for Downers South (15-8, 10-4).

Neuqua Valley 3, Waubonsie Valley 2:

The Wildcats (23-1, 17-1 DuPage Valley) scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning on Ryan Wheeler's RBI double. Wheeler also tripled, homered and drove in 2 runs. Kyle Pettingill pitched 5 innings for the win and Jake Karaba earned the save with 2 innings of scoreless relief.

Glenbard South 5, IC Catholic Prep 3:

The Raiders (13-12, 10-5 Metro Suburban) seized control by scoring 4 runs in the top of the first. Nick Atkinson, Drew Vozza and Michael Nathe had 2 hits while Logan Barnick drove in 2 runs. Mike Paprota pitched 6⅔ innings to earn the win.

WW South 11, Glenbard North 4:

The Tigers (12-13, 10-11) swept the DuPage Valley series after scoring 6 runs in the first two innings. Patrick McGarry drove in 3 runs while Joe Adamek, Matt Scherrman and Kendall Simpson had 2 RBI apiece. Brad Novak got the win and Evan Hartman the save. Dom Rotondo doubled and drove in 2 runs for Glenbard North (7-18, 2-16).

Westmont 3, Lisle 0:

Caden Anderson and Shawn Kwasny combined on the shutout for the Sentinels (13-14, 4-11) in the Interstate Eight. Bobby Risden had 2 hits. Damien Guerrero and Michael Cracco went 2-for-3 for Lisle (15-11, 9-4).

Timothy Christian 14, St. Edward 1:

The Trojans (13-12, 8-8) broke open the Metro Suburban game by scoring 10 runs in the second inning. Trent Marrera went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI while Connor Gwaltney tripled twice and had 2 RBI. Harrison Stanton had 3 hits and Jimmy Allen added 2 hits. Jakob Loerop was the winning pitcher.
