Baseball: Neuqua Valley, Naperville North, Benet win

Neuqua Valley 6, Wheaton North 0:

Anthony Sterchele allowed just 1 hit in 6 innings, striking out nine and walking one for the Wildcats (22-0, 16-0 DuPage Valley). Jake Wenz went 2-for-3 while Evan Ranneklev and Jack Rigoni drove in runs. Jay Gail went 2-for-3 for Wheaton North (16-8, 12-5).

Naperville North 4, Naperville Central 1:

Jack Whitley scattered 4 hits in 5 innings to get the win and Logan Van Poucke picked up the save with 2 scoreless innings of relief as the Huskies (13-10, 7-9) won in the DuPage Valley. Michael Bruebach, who had 2 RBI, and Ryan Bottens had 2 hits apiece. Danny Hughes and Connor Graefen each had 3 hits for Naperville Central (12-11, 9-8).

Benet 11-17, Notre Dame 6-6:

The Redwings (13-10, 9-4) exploded for 37 hits and swept in the East Suburban Catholic Conference. Paddy Hincks had 8 hits and drove in 9 runs. Nick Hoeppel had 3 RBI in the opener. Brandon Gorz, Jack Schneider and Andrew Prisby drove in 3 runs in the second game.

Lake Park 13, Glenbard North 0:

The Lancers (12-10, 9-8 DuPage Valley) scored 7 runs in the second inning and 6 runs in the fourth. John DeConcilis went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI while Rory Marino went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Zach Aehlert and Anthony Baturin had 2 hits apiece. Winning pitcher Jay Palmer allowed 3 hits, struck out six and walked none in 4 innings.

York 5, Hinsdale South 2:

Jake Hadawi, who drove in 2 runs, and Elliott Achepohl went 2-for-3 for the Dukes (17-5). Kellen Gilmartin notched the win and Joey Chiappetta the save.

IC Catholic Prep 4, Timothy Christian 3:

Winning pitcher C.J. West threw a 4-hitter and went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Knights (10-5, 7-8 Metro Suburban). Griffen Eichhorn went 2-for-3.

Glenbard South 10, Sandburg 8:

The Raiders (11-12) burst to an 8-1 fourth-inning lead in the nonconference victory. Mason Barnick went 2-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI. Drew Vozza and John McMahon drove in 2 runs while Nick Atkinson went 3-for-5. Ryan Creevy pitched into the sixth inning to earn the win.

Downers South 10, Downers North 2:

Nick Stacey went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for the Mustangs (15-6). Jordon Knoch and Jack Blazevich drove in 2 runs. Winning pitcher Cameron Crowley struck out seven in five innings. Sam Cogger doubled twice and had 2 RBI for Downers North (8-15).
