Baseball: St. Francis, Lake Park, Neuqua Valley win

St. Francis 7, Mt. Carmel 6:

Trailing 6-5 heading to the bottom of the seventh, the Spartans (8-10, 2-9 Chicago Catholic League) won on a two-out walkoff hit when Matt Cooney singled in Trevor Hicks. Nick Kosmetatos tied the game with a home run. Cooney and Liam Brown, who also homered, each drove in 3 runs. Kosmetatos was the winning pitcher in relief of Ben Radel, who pitched into the seventh inning.

Lake Park 14, Metea Valley 12:

The Lancers (10-10, 7-8) scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to win in the DuPage Valley. Zach Aehlert had 3 hits and 2 RBI while Rory Marino had 2 hits and 3 RBI. Anthony Baturin was the winning pitcher in relief. Jake Kmiecik went 3-for-5 with a homer and 4 RBI for Metea Valley (10-10, 7-8).

Neuqua Valley 8, Naperville North 1:

The Wildcats (20-0, 14-0) swept in the DuPage Valley as Ethan Schreier, who went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI, and Ryan Wheeler each homered. Andrew Churchman was the winning pitcher.

WW South 6, Waubonsie Valley 4:

Winning pitcher Matt Scherrman went 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI for the Tigers (10-11, 8-9 DuPage Valley), who won for the sixth time in eight games. Matt Brodhead and Matt Brennan each had 2 hits. Ben Jaynes went 3-for-4 and Zach Laws drove in 2 run for Waubonsie Valley (5-17, 4-12).

Downers South 4, Willowbrook 2:

Winning pitcher Nick Stacey needed only 84 pitches in a complete-game win for the Mustangs (14-5, 10-1 West Suburban Gold). Jake Pileggi went 2-for-3 and Jack Blazevich drove in 2 runs. Jack Hines went 2-for-3 for Willowbrook (14-9, 8-6).

Wheaton North 12, Glenbard North 2:

Rocco Gambaiani, Jackson Gray and Tyler Woltman homered for the Falcons (16-6, 12-3) in their six-inning DuPage Valley Conference win. Jon Vesevick struck out eight and allowed 4 hits. Isaiah Thordarson went 2-for-3 for Glenbard North (6-14, 1-12).

Lisle 14, Seneca 3:

The Lions (14-8, 8-2) seized control of the Interstate Eight game by scoring 6 runs in the first inning. Aaron Cail went 4-for-4 with 4 RBI while Damien Guerrero went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI. Emmett Malavia allowed 5 hits in the 5-inning win.

Addison Trail 15, Morton 5:

Mike Scali went 4-for-4, A.J. Carlson went 3-for-4 and five other players had 2 hits for the Blazers (12-10, 8-6 West Suburban Gold). Nick Daudelin and Ricky Troha combined on the mound.

Glenbard South 14, Illiana Christian 8:

The Raiders (10-11, 8-4) scored 5 runs in the first inning and 9 runs in the fourth to win in the Metro Suburban. Winning pitcher Logan Barnick and Drew Vozza combined for 5 hits and 7 RBI.

IC Catholic 14, Aurora Central 8:

Andrew Falduto won on the mound and also went 4-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI for the Knights (9-14, 6-7 Metro Suburban). Tom Ryan, C.J. West and Jack Enright combined for 7 RBI.
