Softball: Larkin's 7th inning does in St. Edward

Kathy Garcia and Kiarra Villa had 3 hits each Saturday as Larkin's softball team pulled out an 8-6 nonconference win over St. Edward at the Elgin Sports Complex.

Gracia had a triple and an RBI for the Royals (4-13), who scored 6 runs in the top of the seventh inning, while Villa added a double and 2 RBI. Liz Bowman chipped in with 2 hits including a double and an RBI and Gloria Stoltz had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Villa was the winning pitcher, striking out 6 and walking 3.

Sarah Mendoza led St. Edward (6-8) with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Ashley Miller added 2 hits and an RBI, Jessy Kramp had a double and an RBI and Chloe Davies 2 hits and an RBI.

Batavia splits: Kaylan Waldron had 2 hits and 3 RBI in Game 2 as Batavia split a nonconference doubleheader with Naperville North, losing the first game 9-3 before coming back to win the nightcap 8-6. Jaelen Lisberg (2B), Cassidy Carby (2 hits), Hanna Mackowiak (2B, 2 RBI) and Allison Bahlmann (2B) also helped the Bulldogs (11-8) to the Game 2 win. Sammi Wicks was the winning pitcher. In Game 1, Carby homered while Molly Costigan had 2 hits with a double and Peyton Sachse 3 hits.

Fremd 8, South Elgin 6: Casey Brennan (2 hits, RBI), McKenna Eicholz (2 hits, RBI), Alivia Doyle (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and Sami Koss (2 hits, 2 RBI) led South Elgin (9-8) in a nonconference loss.

Lincoln-Way Central 3, St. Charles East 0: Paige Ligocki had 2 hits for the Saints (12-5) in their nonconference loss.

Zion-Benton 7, Streamwood 6: Z-B scored 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat the Sabres in nonconference play. Tessa Freedman had 3 hits with a double for Streamwood (5-11) while Taylyr Crocilla added 3 hits with a double and an RBI and Corinne Angle had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI.

IC Catholic 3, ACC 0: In the Metro Suburban, Dani Brown and Kaitlyn Carlson had the only hits for Aurora Central (15-8, 2-5). Brown was the losing pitcher, allowing just 1 earned run and 3 hits while striking out 12 and walking 2.
