White Sox close out forgettable homestand with 4-3 loss to Mariners

It was a homestand to forget.

Off the field, the Chicago White Sox are still keeping close tabs on the relief pitcher Danny Farquhar, who collapsed in the dugout Friday night at Guaranteed Rate Field and was rushed to the hospital with a brain hemorrhage and ruptured aneurysm.

Farquhar is progressing well at Rush University Medical Center, which is needed good news.

On the field, the White Sox continued to struggle in a 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field.

"We're a really good team," Matt Davidson said. "It showed the first week of the season, what we were. As a young team, we need to get better at creating momentum out of nothing. When we get the momentum going, we're hard to stop."

Yoan Moncada homered on Felix Hernandez's first pitch Wednesday, and the White Sox built that early lead to 2-0 on Tim Anderson's RBI single.

After Seattle rallied back with 2 runs in the third inning, Daniel Palka put the Sox back in front with his first major-league RBI, a groundout with the bases loaded in the fourth.

The Mariners added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings off White Sox starter James Shields to win the series.

The Sox were 1-5 on the homestand and they were outscored 36-15.
