Girls track: Barrington has the edge at Palatine
Barrington's girls track and field team came out on top in a gathering of top Mid-Suburban League squads on Tuesday at Palatine.
The Fillies finished with 93.5 points to top Prospect (55.5) and the host Pirates (37).
Jocelyn Long won both the 800-meter run (2:20.2) and the 1,600 (5:15.2), and Anne Berquist was tops in the 3,200 (11:24.7).
Barrington also won the 4 x 800, 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays, and Molly FitzPatrick, Megan Miller and Gabby Cossio gave the Fillies a 1-2-3 finish in the 400.
Prospect senior Annie Walsh sprinted to victories in the 100 (12.5) and 200 (26.0), and Palatine counted field victories from Sarah Elischer (high jump, 4-10) and Davia Foster (triple jump, 32-11¼).
• Nel Bochenski had victories in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles to help Rolling Meadows amass 79 points in a win against Elk Grove (51) and Hoffman Estates (47).
Makiyha Blackwell excelled for Hoffman Estates with victories in shot put (41-3¾) and discus (117-5), and Elk Grove Lillie Zahn was tops in the 100 dash (13.22).
• Senior Maddie Marasco came up with victories in both the 400 dash (1:01.55) and 800 run (2:15.0) to help Schaumburg accrue 63 points in a victory over Buffalo Grove (44) and Fremd (30).
