Baseball: Metea Valley, Glenbard East, WW South win

Metea Valley 11, Waubonsie Valley 9:

The Mustangs (7-8, 4-6 DuPage Valley) trailed 9-3 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning but eventually won the game on Cade Sullivan's walkoff grand slam to cap an 8-run outburst. Lucas Eddinger was the winning pitcher in relief. Matt Carmody went 2-for-3 with 4 RBI for Waubonsie Valley (4-12, 3-7).

Glenbard East 9, Bartlett 4:

Behind Bret Bushka, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, double and 6 RBI, the Rams (13-5, 5-0 Upstate Eight) won for the ninth time in 11 games. Winning pitcher Taylor Westerhoff scattered 4 hits in 6 innings.

WW South 12, Naperville Central 10:

Brad Novak homered twice and drove in 5 runs for the Tigers (6-9, 4-9 DuPage Valley), who broke a 10-10 tie by scoring twice in the top of the sixth inning. Winning pitcher Mike Meissner surrendered no earned runs in 2 innings of relief. Tommy Carlsen had 3 hits and Danny Hughes had 3 RBI for Naperville Central (9-7, 6-5).

Naperville North 4, Glenbard North 2:

Winning pitcher Jack Whitley went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Huskies (9-6, 3-5). Jared Dunnett and Mike Bruebach also had 2 hits. Dom Rotundo, Jim Zay and Justyn Orozco had 2 hits for Glenbard North (5-9, 0-7).

Montini 11, Bishop McNamara 6:

A 9-run third inning led the Broncos (8-8, 2-3) to victory in the Chicago Catholic League. Michael Sclafani won on the mound and went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI at the plate. Ben Steiner drove in 2 runs.

Glenbard South 7, Wheaton Academy 1:

Michael Nathe scattered 7 hits in a complete-game Metro Suburban victory for the Raiders (8-9, 6-3). Drew Vozza went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Max Martin went 3-for-4 for Wheaton Academy (5-10, 3-5).

York 14, Downers North 3:

Ten players accounted for 16 hits by the Dukes (12-4, 5-2 West Suburban Silver), who scored 8 runs in the sixth inning. Mike Pastuovic and Clayton Letourneau drove in 3 runs. Jake Hadawi went 5 innings to earn the win.

Wheaton North 10, Lake Park 2:

Andy Nelson and Tyler Woltman homered for the Falcons (11-5, 7-2) to open the DuPage Valley series. Winning pitcher Jackson Gray allowed just 1 hit in 6 innings.

Downers South 14, Leyden 3:

Nick Stacey went 3-for-4 with 2 triples and 5 RBI as the Mustangs (9-5, 5-1) won the West Suburban Gold game in six innings. Winning pitcher Andrew Alfini, Kyle Heavey and Gino Cozzi combined on the mound.

Westmont 11, Plano 1:

The Sentinels (9-8, 3-5) won in the Interstate Eight after scoring 3 runs in the top of the sixth inning. Christian Alexander homered twice and drove in 5 runs, and Alex Marotta added a homer and 3 RBI. Michael Kokoszka struck out seven in 5⅔ innings.
