Baseball: Waubonsie Valley, Addison Trail, Glenbard West win

Waubonsie Valley 3, Glenbard North 2:

Ben Jaynes went 3-for-5 and doubled in the go-ahead run for the Warriors (4-11, 3-6 DuPage Valley) in the top of the 10th inning. Ryan Gorkis was the winning pitcher with 3 innings of scoreless relief for Zach Laws, who struck out 10. J.P. Palmer doubled and drove in 2 runs for Glenbard North (5-8, 0-6).

Addison Trail 9, Hinsdale South 8:

The Blazers (7-8, 4-4) rallied to victory in the West Suburban Gold by scoring twice in the sixth and twice in the bottom of the seventh inning. Nick Daudelin drove in 3 runs, including the tying run with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. Angelo Pahopos and Mike Scali each had 3 hits. Matt Crandall was the winning pitcher in relief. Matt Uba had 3 hits for Hinsdale South (6-6, 2-1).

Glenbard West 13, Lyons Twp. 2:

The Hilltoppers (7-6, 4-4) rolled to a five-inning victory in the West Suburban Silver, adding a 6-run fourth inning to a 5-run first. Grant Lalla went 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI. Sam Fenske also homered. Logan Ryan picked up the win, striking out seven.

Fenton 7, Guerin 5:

After Guerin scored 4 runs in the top of the fourth, the Bison (3-9, 2-6) scored 4 runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good in the Metro Suburban. Jose Alvarez and Rick Reiss had 2 RBI apiece. Carlos Mercado was the winning pitcher in relief.

Benet 13, Marist 0:

The Redwings (8-6, 4-1 East Suburban Catholic) scored all their runs in the first two innings of the five-inning win. Brandon Gorz, who drove in 5 runs, and Andrew Prisby each homered. Winning pitcher Quinn Moriarty allowed 4 hits and struck out four.

Neuqua Valley 6, Naperville Central 0:

James Kulak improved to 4-0 with a 1-hitter, striking out seven and walking one for the Wildcats (15-0, 10-0 DuPage Valley). Nick Taylor went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and an RBI.

WW South 7, Lake Park 5:

Trailing 5-1 after four innings, the Tigers (5-9, 3-3 DuPage Valley) rallied with 3 runs in the fifth and sixth inning. Mitchell Sandleback homered and drove in 3 runs. Evan Hartman was the winning pitcher in relief of Matt Brodhead. Paul Beverly went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for Lake Park (9-5, 6-3).

York 11, Downers North 1:

The West Suburban Silver game ended when the Dukes (11-4, 4-2) scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Andrew Deardurff and Elliott Achepohl each had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Charlie Pakenas allowed 3 hits in 6 innings.

Lisle 5, Sandwich 2:

The Lions (10-7, 4-1 Interstate Eight) broke a 1-1 tie by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth. A.J. Casmer was the winning pitcher, with Damien Guerrero earning the save.

Metea Valley 10, Naperville North 1:

Matt Bergin was the complete-game winning pitcher for the Mustangs (6-8, 3-6), scattering 5 hits in an 80-pitch outing. Danny Zorn and Carter Wardell each had 2 RBI.

Montini 12, DePaul Prep 1:

A 9-run third inning broke open the Chicago Catholic League game for the Broncos (8-8, 2-3). Ryan Nelson went 3-for-3 while Michael Koszewski and Antoine Harris each drove in 3 runs. Winning pitcher Ben Steiner and Liam Heggemann combined on the mound.

Westmont 6, Plano 3:

Matt O'Leary and Michael Kokoszka had 2 RBI apiece at the top of the order for the Sentinels (8-8, 2-5) in the Interstate Eight victory. Alex Marotta struck out nine in 6 innings.
