Baseball: Homer barrage lifts Burlington Central to win

Burlington Central's baseball team brought out the heavy lumber Monday, pounding 4 home runs in a 14-2 Kishwaukee River Conference win over Woodstock North.

Ryan Knowlton went deep twice for the Rockets (9-5, 6-0) while Colton Wallace (3 hits, 2B) and Zach Schutta (2 hits, 2B, 4 RBI) also homered. Also contributing to the BC offense was Paddy McKermitt (3 hits, RBI).

Zach Zuiker was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings and allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Streamwood 5, Elgin 4: Winning pitcher Anthony Caruso had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI as the Sabres (8-4, 3-3) won this Upstate Eight River game. Tyler Jones added 2 hits for Streamwood and Michael Pawlikowski had 2 hits with a double and an RBI. Tim Mitchell (2 hits, RBI), Cameron Jackson (3 hits, RBI) and Payton Reynolds (2B) led Elgin (3-13, 1-8).

St. Charles East 12, Batavia 3: John Dellostritto (3 hits), Pat Griffin (2 hits, 3 RBI), Cole Conn (2B, RBI), Thomas Schroeder (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Charlie Carpenter (2B, 2 RBI), Jack Jordan (2 hits) and Drew Parrine (2B) led the Saints (8-5, 6-1) to a UEC River win. Brett Brueske went 5 innings allowing 7 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk for the win. Joey Sartain had a double for Batavia (9-5, 6-3).

West Aurora 11, Larkin 4: Adrian Ruiz had 2 doubles and an RBI, Cam Zimmerman a double and 2 RBI and Danny Marion 2 hits and 2 RBI to lead West Aurora (7-6, 1-3) to a UEC win. Also producing for the Blackhawks were Alec Losselyoung (2 hits, 2 RBI), JJ Rivera (2 hits, RBI), Ryan Tuescher (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Anthony Malczyk (2B). Eddie Wilson earned the win going 4⅔ innings allowing 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. Max Anderson had a double for Larkin (6-7, 3-5).

Geneva 7, West Chicago 6: Jackson Chase (2 RBI) singled home Ian Hanson (2 hits, RBI) with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Geneva (5-6, 2-4) won this UEC contest.

Hampshire 3, Prairie Ridge 1: Matthew Jachec allowed just 2 hits and had 10 strikeouts and 3 walks as Hampshire (8-9, 2-7) won this Fox Valley Conference game. Andrew Krajecki had 2 hits for the Whip-Purs while Zachary Golden added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Nicholas Tenny a double and an RBI. Carlos Puente picked up the save for the Whips.

Jacobs 5, CL Central 4: Andrew Balkcom went 6 innings allowing just 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk and Matt Camp came on for the save as Jacobs (7-4, 5-1) won in the FVC. Spencer Foulkes had 2 doubles and 2 RBI for the Golden Eagles while Bryce Vincent added 2 hits and 3 RBI and Daniel Klein a double.

McHenry 3, Cary-Grove 1: Tristan Atkins had 2 hits for the Trojans (11-3, 6-3) in their FVC loss.

Westminster Christian 10, IMSA 0: Matthew Schulenburg had 2 hits with 2 triples and 3 RBI to lead Westminster (9-7, 4-1) to a Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Frankie Schlaffer (2 doubles), Sam Huguley (2B, RBI), JT Stoll (2B) and Mason Runkel (2 hits, 3B, RBI) led the Warriors' offense. Theron Dorsey, who had 2 RBI, went 5 innings and allowed 2 hits with 2 strikeouts and no walks for the win.

Harvest Christian 24, Schaumburg Christian 0: In the NAC, Drew Lewis had 2 doubles and 4 RBI and Joey Pepper a double, triple and 3 RBI to lead the Lions (8-6, 5-4) to the win. Gilbert Duran (2 hits, RBI), Matt Ellett (2 RBI), Dayne Frederick (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Grant Young (3 RBI) and Seth Brooks (2 hits, 2 RBI) also contributed for Harvest. Duran, Ellett and Sam Bonick combined on a 1-hitter.

Dundee-Crown 11, Bartlett 10: Erik Hedmark (2B, 3 RBI) drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Ryan Lascano with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to life the Chargers (4-10) to a nonconference win. Ray Gestrich (2B, 2 RBI), Justin Lawson (2 hits), Jordan Lyter (2B, 2 RBI) and Joey Marczyk (2 hits, 3 RBI) also produced for D-C. Andrew Fehr (2 hits), Matt Angelone (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Sam Mallinas (RBI) led Bartlett (2-8).

Aurora Christian 7, Serena 3: Sam Tickel had 3 hits with a triple and 3 RBI, Jake Kuntzendorf added 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Eric Hernandez had a double for the Eagles (12-1) in their nonconference win. MJ Stavola allowed no hits and had 10 strikeouts in 4 innings of work to earn the win.

Kaneland 6, Glenbard East 0: Thomas Shaw had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Alex Buchanan added a double and an RBI for Kaneland (10-3) in a nonconference win. Vito Brandonsio was the winning pitcher.

Elmwood Park 5, St. Edward 1: Matthew Schmibke had a double for St. Edward (3-15, 1-4) in its Metro Suburban loss.

Illiana Christian 7, ACC 0: Alex Rakas had a triple and Chris Cartwright a double for Aurora Central (12-6, 4-4) in its MSC defeat.

St. Rita 12, Marmion 11: In the Chicago Catholic League, Carlos Liz (2 hits), Cole Green (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Brendon Wilson (2B, 3 RBI), Dom Czerwinski (2 RBI), Tom Mele (2 RBI) and Griffin Bohr (2 RBI) led Marmion (5-6, 1-2).
