Girls soccer: St. Charles North continues winning ways

The St. Charles North girls soccer team stayed hot offensively with a 5-1 win over Elgin Tuesday in Upstate Eight River action at Memorial Field. It was the third straight game of at least 5 goals or more (17 total in that span) as Gia Wahlberg tallied 1 goal and 1 assist for the unbeaten North Stars (9-0-1, 2-0). Hailey Rydberg, Sarah Andrey, C.C. Wahlberg and Chloe Netzel all added goals while Jordan Karom, Makenna Collins, Cassidy Joyce each had assists. Goalie Sara Maleski made 1 save and Nathalie Grier also added 4 saves.

Geneva 2, South Elgin 0: Jenna Dominguez and Ava Geen scored goals for the Vikings (7-3-1) in UEC crossover action where they dominated possession and created lot of offensive chances. Sydney Gratz and Anne Brolly added assists and keeper Katie Montgomery posted a 3-save shutout.

St. Charles East 8, Streamwood 0: Kayla Villa dominated play with a hat trick and 1 assist in a lopsided UEC River win for the Saints (7-2-3, 3-0). Rose Stackhouse provided 2 goals and Jamie McDermott had both a goal and an assist. Alessia D'Argento and Riley Coine were other goal scorers while Madison Cady, Isabell Albano, Margaret Harper, Emma Blankenship and Hannah Miller had assists. Grace Griffin did not have a save in her seventh shutout in goal.

St. Edward 4, Chicago Christian 0: In a Metro Suburban win, Madison Knott had 1 goal and 1 assist while Rachel Martini registered 2 goals for the Green Wave (5-2-1, 2-0). Katie Ellsworth's goal and Maddie Ellsworth's assist also helped while Mariel Franco had 1 save and Mackenzie Willson had 2 for a combined shutout in goal.

Jacobs 9, Hampshire 2: The Golden Eagles (7-2-2, 1-1) exploded for 7 goals in the second half in a Fox Valley Conference game that was tied 2-2 at the half. Baylee Vincent provided a hat trick for Jacobs, winners of 7 straight, while Dominque Anderson, Hannah Mohan, Morgan Ward, Andie Voss and Cassie Kowalski scored goals. Jacobs also benefited from a Hampshire own goal as well as assists from Vincent, Kowalski and Mohan.

CL South 2, Dundee-Crown 0: Despite playing just their first home game all season, the Gators took advantage of the home field and downed the Chargers (5-6, 2-1) in FVC play. First half goals by Abby Wiegand (1 assist) and Emma Chudik were all South (4-4, 1-0) needed as Jasmine Lopez provided 1 assist and keeper Marissa Fetters locked up a shutout with 7 saves.

Cary-Grove 2, CL Central 1: In Fox Valley Conference action, the Trojans rallied from a 1 goal deficit at halftime to beat the Tigers with 2 second half goals by Jenna Stayart and Jordan Dale.
