Softball: South Elgin surprises Geneva

South Elgin's softball team made it a clean sweep of its Upstate Eight Conference games this week, downing Geneva 12-5 on Friday.

Earlier in the week, the resurgent Storm also beat St. Charles North and St. Charles East.

In Friday's victory, winning pitcher Geneva Pollman had a 2-run home run and Julianna Battaglia 3 hits with a double, home run and 4 RBI to lead the South Elgin (6-5, 3-0) offense. McKenna Eicholz added 2 hits and 3 RBI, Casey Brennan had 2 hits with a double, Sami Koss 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Kaylie Humes added a double.

Katie Keller had 2 doubles for Geneva (7-2, 3-1) while Katie Geary added a double, Sydney Erdmann 2 hits and Alyssa Kramer a triple.

St. Charles East 14, East Aurora 0: Elliott Sanders had 3 hits with 2 doubles and an RBI, Alena Macri 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Lauren Luna 2 doubles and an RBI to lead the Saints (9-2, 3-1) to this Upstate Eight win. Brooke Byas (2B, 2 RBI) and winning pitcher Kristen Sbarra (3B, 2 RBI) also contributed.

Glenbard East 16, Larkin 2: Liz Bowman drove in both runs for Larkin (1-6, 1-2) in its UEC loss.
