Softball: Elk Grove is a triple threat in first win

Elk Grove didn't hit any shots over the deep fence at Fenton's softball field on Monday.

But the Grenadiers took the next best path, belting a school-record 7 triples in an 11-1 five-inning triumph over the Bison, who lost for the first time in four games.

The Grens, who won for the first time in four games, were led in the triples parade by Katia Pendowski, who belted a pair while going 3-for-3.

Olivia Masinica (3-for-4), Jaimie Klicka (2-for-4), A.J. Trausch, Brook Baldassarre and Lauren Clausen each had 1 triple.

Masnica, a freshman, recorded her first varsity win by tossing a 2-hitter with 3 strikeouts.
