Softball: Grayslake Central rolls in Florida

Brooke Heraty had a grand slam, double and 7 RBI, and Grayslake Central's softball team beat Piqua 15-0 in a game that lasted just three innings in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday.

Grayslake Central improved to 2-2.

Winning pitcher Grace Bradley was 1-for-1 with 2 RBI, Bridget Marshall also knocked in a pair of runs, and Nicole Buerger was 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored.

Carmel 2, Haleyville 0: In Alabama, Sydney Schuda pitched 6 innings for the win, allowing 4 hits and striking out eight, as the Corsairs improved to 4-1 on their Spring Break trip.

Schuda (1-for-3) and Marla Walinski drove in the runs for Carmel (6-3), which concludes its Alabama trip on Thursday when it plays Vernon Hills at 10 a.m.

Sparkman 13, Vernon Hills 2: In Alabama, the Cougars got doubles from Meg Finerty and Nicole Pieper in their loss.

Finerty and Rachel Wright (1-for-1) had RBI.
