Baseball: Grayslake North picks up win in Florida

Eddie Erickson fired a 5-hit shutout, and Grayslake North's baseball team beat Clarksville Academy (Tenn.) 3-0 in Florida on Wednesday.

Erickson, a senior, struck out five and walked one. Matt Heery had a single and 2 RBI for the Knights, who scored all of their runs in the fifth inning.

Stevenson 11, Medina 2: In Vero Beach, Fla., four pitchers combined on a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts, as the Patriots won their first of two games of the day against their Ohio opponent.

Winning pitcher Jack Housinger, Nick Bonk and Christopher Farina each threw 2 innings for Stevenson, and Michael D'Angelo threw the seventh. The Patriots' 15-hit attack was led by Farina (3-for-4, triple, RBI) and Ryan Miller (3-for-5, double). Contributing 2 hits apiece were Connor Horton (RBI), Zachary Taylor (2 doubles), Nicholas Brueckert (2 RBI) and Bonk (triple, 3 RBI).

Stevenson 9, Medina 4: Caleb Evans hit a 2-run homer, Ryan McElhinny was 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored, and the Patriots beat their Ohio opponent for the second time in Vero Beach, Fla.

Isaiah Hart (double, RBI), Evan Kiah, Michael D'Angelo (double, RBI) and Benjamin Chestler (double, RBI) each had a pair of hits in the win.

Matthew Mittelmark earned the win, pitching 5 no-hit innings in relief with 5 strikeouts and no walks.

Lakes 3, Rock Bridge 2: Logan Mueller pitched 4 innings of shutout ball to earn the win in Florida, and Cameron May earned the 3-inning save for the Eagles against their opponent from Missouri.

Mueller allowed just 1 hit, struck out seven and walked three. He also hit a double. Matthew Grubb paced Lakes' offense, going 2-for-2 with a triple. Jeffrey Nielsen doubled as well in the win.

Warren 13, Dundee-Crown 3: At Rent One Park in downstate Marion, Evan Hill and Mikey Kocen led the way offensively for the Blue Devils, who hike their record to 6-1.

Hill homered and went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. Kocen was 2-for-4 with a triple, double and 3 RBI. Sam Deluca and Riley Kocen also doubled in the win.

Liam Hannigan pitched 3⅔ innings and earned the win. Matt Langevin notched the save, tossing the final 2⅓ innings.

Cary-Grove 5, Mundelein 3: The Trojans built a 4-1 lead after three innings in downstate Marion en route to the win.

Mundelein got 2 hits apiece from Ryan Patel (RBI) and Jeff Morton.

Crystal Lake South 11, Wauconda 2: At Rent One Park, Brock Glavey was 1-for-2 and knocked in both runs for the Bulldogs in their loss downstate.

Zion-Benton sweeps Round Lake: The host Zee-Bees won 7-3 and 7-5 in a nonconference doubleheader.

In Game 1, Charlie Burton (1-for-3) and Tyler Roman drove in runs for the Panthers.

Round Lake got RBI from Jacob Mitchell (1-for-3), Angel Cuevas, Gio Cirelli (1-for-3) and Santino Cirelli in Game 2.
