Hampshire handles Marengo

Matthew Jachec and Nathan Peteck combined on a 6-hitter Monday to lead Hampshire to a 7-1 nonconference baseball victory over Marengo.

Jachec went 5 innings and allowed 5 hits and 1 earned run, striking out 4 and walking 2. Peteck finished, allowing just 1 hit with 2 strikeouts and a walk.

Nicholas Sladek went 4-for-4 with an RBI to lead the offense for the Whip-Purs while Trevor Laffin added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Kevin Michaelsen had 2 hits with a double and an RBI.

West Chicago 4, St. Edward 2: Daniel Falco had 3 hits to lead St. Edward (1-3) in this nonconference loss. Mike Lopez added 2 hits for the Green Wave and Ethan Palomino had a double and an RBI. Matthew Schimbke suffered the loss on the mound despite allowing just 4 hits. He had 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Schaumburg 7, Elgin 3: Tim Mitchell and Kyle Coates drove in runs for Elgin (1-2) in this nonconference loss.
