Girls water polo: Olszewski paces Conant at Elk Grove

Conant's Olivia Olszewski scored 4 goals to pace the Cougars' girls water polo team in a 9-2 victory over host Elk Grove on Wednesday.

Alyssa Bonilla and Kaylee Hatfield scored for the Grenadiers.

Lauren Day stopped 8 shots for Conant (2-0), which also got single goals from Sydney Arnold, Nia Tsoulos, Amy Rodriguez, Sarah Erne and Aly Wooley.

Schaumburg 12, Wheeling 3: Kailey Cordova scored a game-high 6 goals to lead visiting Saxons (1-2) in their first win of the season.

Rolling Meadows 8, Palatine 5: The host Mustangs scored 4 goals in the fourth quarter while blanking the Pirates in that same period to earn a season-opening win.

Maggie Goodwin led the way for Meadows with 5 goals, and senior Natalia Koval paced Palatine with 3.

Barrington 8, Buffalo Grove 5: Seniors Jackie West (5 goals) and Emily Schulze (3) accounted for all the scoring for the visiting Fillies. Diana Morosan and Anna Maria Apostolopoulou both scored twice for the Bison in coach Mike McPartlin's debut.

Hersey 11, Fremd 7: Katie Lindgren and Annie Lindgren both had 4 goals and Madison Burkhalter had 3 to help the host Huskies win their season opener.

Lauren Streitmatter paced the Vikes with 4 goals.

Prospect 16, Hoffman 6: The visiting Knights came out on top in coach Tori Shields' debut as coach.
