Carmel eliminates Vernon Hills

Evan Myers scored 18 points, Johnny Roeser added 10, and Carmel Catholic's boys basketball team defeated Vernon Hills 60-42 in a semifinal of the Class 3A Wauconda regional on Tuesday night.

No. 3 Carmel (18-11) will play host and No. 11 Wauconda (12-18) in Friday's 7 p.m. regional final.

No. 14 Vernon Hills finished 7-21.

Barrington 65, Zion-Benton 53: At Waukegan, the second-seeded Broncos advanced in the Class 4A regional, as Anthony Spann scored a game-high 18 points.

Mark Johnson and Jason Boock added 17 and 15 points, respectively, for Barrington, which will play in Friday's 7 p.m. championship game against the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between No. 7 Palatine and No. 11 Waukegan.

No. 16 Zion-Benton received 17 points from Anthony French and 15 from freshman Amar Augillard.
