More MVC basketball honors for Loyola's Cameron Krutwig

Loyola University freshman Cameron Krutwig, a native of Algonquin, earned Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honors on Monday. The 6-foot-9 Jacobs High grad averaged 15 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3 assists last week as the Ramblers clinched the MVC regular-season championship.

Krutwig, who was the Daily Herald's Fox Valley All-Area captain last season, connected on 82.4 percent (14-for-17) of his shots last week in games against Southern Illinois and Illinois State.

The winner for MVC Freshman of the Year honors will be announced later this week. Krutwig is averaging 10.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 1.9 apg on the season. He ranks first among Valley freshmen in scoring (10.6) and second in rebounding (6.5).
