North Chicago wins at Lakes

North Chicago 64, Lakes 47: North Chicago's boys basketball team pulled away late against host Lakes to claim a 64-47 victory in Northern Lake County Conference play Tuesday.

Lakes (12-16, 7-6) was within 5 points before a big fourth quarter got the Warhawks some separation. Tyreke Cooper led all scorers with 18 points for the NLCC champs.

Leading the scoring totals for the Eagles were Brad Cherry (15 points) and Michael Behrendt (11).

Grant 85, Round Lake 46: Junior forward Tavarus Williams finished with a game-high 24 points and teammate Mike Huff finished with 15 to help the visiting Bulldogs rolls in Northern Lake County Conference play.

Both Williams and Huff made three 3s.

Lucas Hollingsworth led the way for Round Lake with 18 points, and senior guard Alex Larson had 14, with four 3s.

Evanston 79, Vernon Hills 45: The host Cougars came up short in a Central Suburban crossover matchup. Junior Joey Leviten paced Vernon Hills with 9 points, and seniors Avery Foster and Derrick Jones finished with 8 apiece.

Grayslake North 59, Antioch 53: On Monday night, James Connolly scored 20 points, Ryan Connolly added 18, and the Knights won in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Jon Smithson had 14 points for Grayslake North. The Knights outscored Antioch 13-7 in the fourth quarter after the score was tied 46-46 after three.
