Harvest Christian headed to Elite Eight again

Harvest Christian's girls basketball team is in the Elite Eight again.

Senior Alyssa Iverson scored 25 points Thursday night to lead the Lions to a 54-40 win over Winnebago in the championship game of the Class 2A Bureau Valley sectional.

The Lions (28-4), who finished fourth in Class 1A last season, will travel to Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby Monday night to take on the icon of girls basketball in Illinois, Chicago Marshall, in the supersectional round. Marshall has won eight state championships under legendary coach Dorothy Gaters, the winningest basketball coach in Illinois history, boys or girls.

In Thursday's win, Elena Porrata added 9 points and 5 assists for Harvest while Jen Kasper had 7 points, Grace Ringel 7 rebounds and Gracie Ozburn 6 steals.
