Defending champ Geneva opens regionals with win

Defending Class 4A champion Geneva opened the girls basketball postseason Tuesday night with a 62-37 win over Schaumburg in a Class 4A Schaumburg regional game played at Conant.

Stephanie Hart led the Vikings (25-3) with 17 points while Margaret Whitley added 10, Brie Borkowicz 9 and Maddie Yelle and Madison Mallory 8 each.

Geneva will take on Batavia Thursday night for the regional championship.

Rolling Meadows 62, St. Charles East 50: Sara Rosenfeldt concluded her SCE career with 19 points in the Saints' loss at the Class 4A Addison Trail regional. Alexie Kiefer added 12 points for the Saints (13-14) and Rose Stackhouse had 8.

Boylan 43, Huntley 20: Kamsi Nwogu scored 9 points and Anna Seng added 6 for Huntley (8-21) in its loss to undefeated Boylan at the Class 4A Hampshire regional.

Harlem 55, Hampshire 38: Lauren Herrmann, Kelby Bannerman and Sarah Bowen had 8 points each for Hampshire (14-14).
